Final Topic

For the Experience and Other Evidence final paper topic, I chose to write about the first time I began to ride roller coasters. For me, this was an exhilarating experience because it allowed me to open up about heights and not being in control all of the time. My paper will focus on how people who are scared of heights and/or not being in control, for example not being able to stop a roller coaster when you get scared, overcome these fears and how my experience can support it. In this paper, I will disccuss what the issue was, how I was able to overcome my fear, who/what caused me to go on my first coaster, and the lasting effects that that one day had on me.

  1. I like your topic choice! Really excited me when I read "roller coasters" just because they are awesome. Scary, yet so awesome. Your word is better, exhilarating.
So you're only going to focus on overcoming fears of heights? Or overcoming fears in general by doing something that brings you to the fear but with no control over it? (That question made sense when inside my head....does it make sense to you?)

  2. I really like your topic choice because I remember having the same feelings when I rode my first roller coaster. I do agree with Eranell that perhaps instead of focusing just on fear of heights exploring all phobias. That would be really interesting.

  3. I LOVE roller coasters :) I remember getting over my fear of roller coasters too, but I still have a slight fear of heights. If you're going to focus on fear of heights, maybe you could associate them with past childhood experiences or where the fear came from in the first place. I'm a little confused by the second half of your post. Are you generalizing the topic by discussing fear in general, specifically discussing the fear of heights, or going into detail about your own experience?
